IQ Testing: What You Should Know
Closing Thoughts...

Considering an IQ test for yourself or your child?  Here are some things you should know.

  1. The administration of an Intelligence Test is not a guarantee of outcome.  It is important to approach the test with an open mind, not as a means to prove eligibility for a class, program or club.
  2. It is up to the examinee or his/her parents/guardians to determine in advance what test(s) are acceptable to the target school, program or club.  I administer the Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales (RIAS).
  3. You should be well-rested and ready to concentrate for about one hour at the time of testing.  You will be scheduled for a 2-hour appointment. The fee for the service represents the time spent with you as well as in preparing the final reports, and is due at the beginning of the appointment.
  4. The actual test process will include several steps:
    1. An assessment interview with the examinee and with parents/guardians if the examinee is a child
    2. Administration of the test
    3. Brief break for examinee (and parents/guardians, if applicable) while the test is scored and preliminary results prepared
    4. Consultation with examinee (if adult) or parents/guardians (if examinee is a child) to briefly present results.
  5. A formal report will be provided to you via USPS and via USPS or FAX transmission to up to 2 organizations for which the examinee (or parents/guardians) provides detailed release of information forms.  Additional test reports will be provided at a small fee to represent administrative/clerical costs.
  6. Testing supplies are copyright protected.  I am forbidden, by law, from providing copies of testing supplies or books to examinees or their parents/guardians.
